Our Spiritual Identity
(0300 and all is well!)
From Mike Bickle’s excellent notes from tonight’s (last night’s?) Encountering God Service at IHOP:
Our core spiritual identity – Are we essentially a slave to sin who struggles to love God? Or are we essentially a lover of God who still struggle with sin? Are you a hopeless hypocrite who is trying in a futile attempt to love God or are you an authentic lover of God who is still struggling?

After we study the word most of our life, we have and are nothing unless we hear what the spirit tells the churches in Rev. 1-3. We read and study the bible but until we BELIEVE the written word literally we will not know our God. I know the word is the truth and more real than what we see and feel here. The flesh is the whole man spirit, soul, and body living in a state of sin on earth. There is no good thing in any of us except for our relationship with God and His son The Living Word.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This is a real Romans 7 kind of question. Know the Word and Love God, do not seek gifts but ask to be a servant and slave knowing Him and His plan. We are exactly what we do and think. No excuses.
Dave,
1) No flesh can glory in His presence. If the spirit of man was “flesh,” we would have no communion with Him whatsoever.
2) The spirit of a man is the candle of the Lord. If our spirits were still in a fallen state, this verse couldn’t be true.
