A Simple Prayer
Father,
Bring Your fire
Bring Your desire
Bring the yearnings and groans of Your heart
and
Bring me into the knowledge of You

Just FYI, I was listening to the Merchant Band song “Wake Me Up” when I was writing the second half of the prayer, so that definitely stirred me up.
Here’s the lyrics:
I feel a shaking, though it’s faint
Something’s coming, am I too late?
I need to be ready.
The earth is groaning as it waits,
longing for the coming day
and I need to be ready.
Grant to me the grace I need
to live a life found worthy in the end.
Violently, I will seek,
‘Cause wisdom is justified in the end!
Chorus:
WAKE ME UP! (x2)
I don’t want to be sleeping
when You’re coming!
WAKE ME UP! (x2)
I don’t want to be lying down
Through this final hour.
Wake me up.
The nations gather as they say,
“Let’s break their bonds and cast their chains.”
And I need to be ready.
Deep darkness is coming soon,
Do I have oil to make it through?
I need to be ready.
Grant to me the grace I need
to live a life found worthy in the end.
Violently, I will seek,
‘Cause wisdom is justified in the end!
(Chorus)
Time is running out.
I say to all of you,
Lift your voice and shout,
The bridegroom’s in the land.
Turn while there’s still time,
The Lord, He may relent.
Will the way you live your life make it through
when God judges you?
I cry for mercy,
when all I hear is, “Peace and safety!”
Destruction is coming.
O Lord, have mercy.
Have mercy!
(Chorus)
Wake me up.
Lord, have mercy on me.
Don’t sweep me away with the wicked!
Have mercy, I pray, on me!
Wake me up.
