The knowledge of God

0433 and all is well on the Nightwatch

“knowledge of God” is the most awesome query I’ve ever punched in to a bible search engine. Here’s the results:

Pro 2:5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.
Hsa 4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, You children of Israel, For the LORD [brings] a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “There is no truth or mercy Or knowledge of God in the land.
Hsa 6:6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
Rom 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable [are] His judgments and His ways past finding out!
1Cr 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak [this] to your shame.
2Cr 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Col 1:10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing [Him], being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

That’s just awesome. It makes me think of an incredible song by Misty Edwards, “Something bigger’s going on,” where she sings,

“fill me with the knowledge of God,
with the knowledge of You,
with the knowledge of the Holy, Holy!”

  1. Consciously, the believer hallows himself in a decisive, crucial, instantaneous act in the light of the knowledge of God’s will concerning him or her as a member of the Anointed, Anointing One’s Body-in-mystery or as a member of His spiritual body. The growth continues. Not as before ‘ into grace’ but ‘ in grace.’ Here the light grows brighter and brighter as the journey proceeds toward perfection. This is in contrast to outward, merely mechanical service. The renewed mind discerns God’s will, as against the mind of the flesh. The light shineth into the darkness and the darkness knew it not. Those that choose to walk in the light know that Thou are Worth Lord! Faith and His Knowledge

  2. We not only should study but we MUST listen.
    Rev:
3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
3:13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Selah

  3. Dave, “much learning doth make thee mad.” (Acts 26:24) 😉
I love Romans 11:33, referred to by many as the “Oh!!” verse of scripture.
I see the knowledge of God is much more than a base understanding (James 2:19), but a real knowledge of Him ignited by the Holy Spirit.

  4. If we seek God with all our heart and know the word, We have a slight chance of a relationship with our beloved God. Christ in you the hope of glory, you in Christ the reality there of. Except for His grace and Mercy we are all lost.
8:11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Yes, I am a Romans eight kind of guy. Living in Revelations.

  5. For those who found this blog by searching for the lyrics of the song mentioned above, I thought I might add that it is called “There’s something bigger going on” by Misty Edwards, and is available on IHOP’s Limited Edition Volume 14 (best of) or Volume 1:
